Legislative Services Office
This office coordinates the legislative affairs of the department. The special assistant/legislative services manager prepares and implements the department's initiatives, serves as the Commissioner's liaison with the Governor's Office and the Legislature and coordinates the Commissioner's relations with the General Assembly. Matt Barnes serves in this role for TDOT.
The goal of the Legislative Services Office is to coordinate and manage the department’s legislative agenda through the legislative process. The Legislative Services Office develops and improves working relationships with all members of the General Assembly. The department relies on this office to develop legislative proposals to carry out departmental initiatives, as well as to analyze and communicate the effect of all proposed legislation. The Legislative Services Office also facilitates the communication of the department’s initiatives with representatives of the affected constituency.
