This involves the development of a Road Safety Audit Report (RSAR) and the creation of the Safety Project Team which includes TDOT staff from multiple Divisions within the Department, engineering consultants along with other state and local project area stakeholders that will participate in project development meetings and on-site visits during which possible improvements are identified and studied. Recommended improvements include but are not limited to the addition of signing, pavement markings and minor geometric improvements. The section is responsible for all eligible projects listed under the following safety programs; Road Safety Audit, Spot Safety, Ramp Queue, Corridor Study and Roadway Median Cable Barrier programs.
- The Highway-Rail Grade Crossing Program is also a responsibility of this Section. The identification and evaluation of eligible crossings, possible safety improvements, and the administration of funding is the priority for this group.
