The Travel Data Office consists of two sections: Travel Data Analysis and Travel Data Section.

The Travel Data Analysis Section compiles and reports statewide traffic data for the Highway Performance Monitoring System (HPMS) to the Federal Highway Administration. Other traffic statistics are collected and analyzed for a variety of reports and also provides inputs into Advanced Traffic Data Analysis and Management (ADAM), the Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) book and the Division's three traffic count websites. This section also is responsible for the design of permanent traffic count locations (Detection Loops and ATRs) that are inserted into contract plans

The Travel Data Section is responsible for maintaining an inventory for use by the Highway-Rail Grade Crossing Program. This section is also responsible for collecting traffic volumes, conducting truck freight studies, travel time surveys and special counts statewide. Processing of vehicle classifications, vehicle weights and incorporating all statewide traffic data into computer databases used by TDOT is also a responsibility of this section.
