Tennessee Scenic Byways

Tennessee Byways bird logoTennessee’s byways offer a unique driving experience. The byways showcase Tennessee’s backroads, historic main streets, scenic spots, outdoor adventures, and tell the story of the state’s treasured places and people. A Tennessee byway is where to find amazing landscape, history, and culture come alive. So take the opportunity to get off the interstate and explore what lies off the beaten path. The byways are an amazing entrance to a memorable adventure.

The byways in Tennessee begin with local residents identifying key points of interest, interpreting the story of the corridor, and highlighting amenities along the byway. The Tennessee Scenic Byways Program is intended to provide economic benefits and tourism opportunities to visitors and residents. The National Scenic Byways Program is funded through the Federal Highway Administration and provides resources to help interpret and promote the intrinsic qualities of a state/nationally designated byway.
