Q: How is TDOT’s MS4 permit like or different from the MS4 permit
for the city where I live?
A: The Minimum Control Measures for Phase I and II communities
(includes TDOT and medium to large cities) are basically the same.
The difference for TDOT is that the department does not have the
ability to enact ordinances or codes like cities to require certain
things of adjacent property owners discharging to our storm sewer
system.

participating in TDOT’s Public Involvement opportunities?

Q: How can I keep track of TDOT’s progress towards complying with
their MS4 permit?
A: TDOT’s MS4 permit requires an annual report be submitted to TDEC
within six months after the completion of each permit year (October
1 through September 30). Those reports will be published on this
website for public review and comment.
