Current Project Status


Environmental Phase:

March 2009:  Complete Preliminary Draft Environmental Statement (DEIS)

July 2009:  NEPA Hearing

August 2009:  Review Public Comments

November 2009:
A decision was made to study replacing the existing loop interchange with a roundabout as a way to avoid impacts to the French Fort neighborhood and improve connectivity to Crump Boulevard, Riverside Drive, and I-55.  

June  2010: A public information meeting was held to give the public a chance to review and submit comments on the proposed modifications..

September 2010:
Tennessee Department of Transportation announced the selection of alternate Z-1, which includes a roundabout design and avoids impacts to the French Fort neighborhood, as the preferred alternative for the Interstate 55 interchange at Crump Boulevard.

January 2012:  The Environmental Phase of the project has concluded.  A Record of Decision was approved on January 25, 2012.  The project is now in the Design Phase.
