I-40/I-75 Knoxville Interchange Improvement Project

Project Details

I-40 looking east at the West Hills interchange I-40/75 will be widened with additional lanes beginning 928 feet west of North Winston Road, extending to 1,155 feet east of Papermill Road.  In addition to the widening of 3.6 miles of interstate, the project also includes the construction of 5.6 miles of ramps and frontage roads, plus the improvement of 3.6 miles of city streets.

Both the West Hills interchange and the Papermill Road Interchange will be rebuilt.  A partial interchange will be added at Weisgarber Road.  A collector-distributor road will be constructed on the north side of the interstate from east of Papermill Road to west of Weisgarber.  A frontage road will be constructed on the south side of the interstate from west of the West Hills Interchange to east of the West Hills Interchange. The project is estimated to be complete in early 2007.
