Fifth Avenue Closed for Bridge Construction

Knoxville, TN. --- The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) announced today that Fifth Avenue will be closed on Wednesday, May 7 at 6:00 a.m. between Hall of Fame Drive and Lamar Street.  This closure will remain in effect until June 2009 to permit bridge demolition and reconstruction.  Motorists will need to use Central Avenue and Magnolia Avenue to get to Hall of Fame Drive during construction. This street closure is part of the ongoing SmartFIX40 project in downtown Knoxville that has closed I-40 between Hall of Fame Drive and James White Parkway.
