TDOT Media Advisory

Traffic Flow Modified on James White Parkway

Knoxville, TN. --- Drivers heading to I-40 eastbound from James White Parkway will once again utilize the tunnel under Hall of Fame Drive to reach their destination beginning Monday, April 17.  Northbound James White Parkway traffic to I-40 eastbound had been temporarily re-routed to a signalized intersection at the southern end of the Hall of Fame Drive Bridge over I-40 to allow construction of the I-40 bridge over First Creek.

Once TDOT crews route traffic back to the tunnel, there will no longer be access to Hall of Fame Drive or Broadway from James White Parkway.  Instead, motorists traveling northbound on James White Parkway will exit to either I-40 east or westbound.   Downtown motorists will be able to access Hall of Fame Drive by utilizing Summit Hill Drive, Howard Baker Jr. Boulevard and Hill Avenue.  Eastbound Neyland Drive motorists can use the ramp to Hall of Fame Drive located just past Calhoun’s Restaurant.

As the SmartFIX40 project moves toward completion, traffic flow on several ramps and bridges in the construction area will be modified to their final configuration.   Motorists need to be alert for changing conditions and construction equipment adjacent to traffic.
