TDOT Announces Partial Closure of Spence Lane
Closure begins Monday

Nashville, Tennessee - The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) announced that a portion of the southbound side of Spence Lane will be closed beginning August 30. The closure will remain in place for approximately one year.

“This closure is necessary to allow the contractor to complete work on the new Spence Lane overpass,” said Region 3 Director Winston Gaffron.

The Spence Lane overpass is currently being replaced as part of the widening project along I-40 from the I-24 split to Donelson Pike. The southbound lanes of Spence Lane will be closed from Cornelia Court to the Kenworth entrance. Southbound traffic will be detoured to Elm Hill Pike and then onto Arlington Avenue.

Northbound traffic along Spence Lane will not be closed. About 10,000 vehicles use Spence Lane each day.

TDOT and Dement Construction have worked closely with Metro Nashville in coordinating this closure.

TDOT understands the inconvenience associated with the closure, but is working closely with area businesses to minimize the impact.
