Steve Allen is the Director of Project Planning. The division is comprised of five offices: Special Projects, Short Range Planning Office, Project Safety Office, Travel Data Office and Regional Planning Rural Office. Steve has been with the department for over 36 years. He graduated from Tennessee State University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He is also a graduate of Nashville Tech with an Associate of Engineering in Architectural Engineering. Steve is a member of several professional organizations including the Tennessee Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers, where he served as president for 2006.
The Project Planning Division is one of five divisions under the Chief of Environment and Planning. This Division is comprised of five offices: Special Projects, Short Range Planning Office, Project Safety Office, Regional Planning Rural Office and Travel Data Office. It is the goal of this Division and its Offices to provide planning level transportation reports, information and experience that will support the transportation project development process. Project Planning Division will accomplish this goal by the collection and analysis of critical data, investigating possible options and impacts as they relate to the project, and by managing the efforts of our staff, engineering consultants and project stakeholders in a responsible and effective manner that supports the mission of TDOT’s Strategic Management Plan.
