The Tennessee Department of Transportation proposes to complete the SR-109 project, otherwise known as the Portland Bypass, in the vicinity of the City of Portland in Sumner and Robertson Counties. The Portland Bypass project includes construction of a new segment of State Route 109 from existing SR-109 south of the City of Portland near SR-76 northward to SR-109 north of Portland in Robertson and Sumner Counties, Tennessee. The project would include the completion of the overall SR-109 improvement project between the City of Gallatin and Interstate 65.
A Transportation Planning Report, approved in August 2006, involved a detailed look at various options of constructing a new Portland Bypass around the City of Portland. The recommendations from the TPR are being examined in an environmental document. The map below shows the project vicinity in Robertson and Sumner Counties, Tennessee.
