Project Timeline
All TDOT projects are developed through the following five-step process:
PLANNING
The Planning Division’s Long-Range Planning Office is responsible for the development and completion of Transportation Planning Reports, Safety Projects, and Feasibility Studies for new, expanded, or relocated highway facilities.
Status: Complete
ENVIRONMENTAL
The Environmental Division’s, Environmental Planning Office prepares environmental studies on social, economic and environmental issues for each highway project.
Status: An Environmental Assessment has been prepared and was approved by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) on August 17, 2009. The Environmental Assessment was released for public review in September 2009. A public hearing was held on October 29, 2009.
The Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) document was approved by the FHWA on June 13, 2011 and the project will now move into the Design phase.
DESIGN (CURRENT PHASE)
The Design Division oversees the performance of aerial and ground surveys, the establishment of roadway design criteria, and the development of right-of-way and construction plans for proposed highway improvement projects.
Status: Not complete. Functional plans were provided for the build alternatives studied in the EA, but no detailed ROW or design plans have been developed to date.
RIGHT-OF-WAY
The Right-of-Way Division is responsible for the appraisal and acquisition of land needs for state highway construction and relocation of families and businesses affected.
Status: Not complete.
CONSTRUCTION
The Construction Division is responsible for preparing proposals and letting to contract all Department of Transportation highway and bridge projects.
Status: Not funded at this time.
