(from State Route 21 to Cates Landing Road, Lake County, Tennessee)
Project Description
This project has been initiated at the request of the local government and area state representatives. Lake County officials, the Army Corps of Engineers, the Northwest Port Authority, and the Tennessee Department of Transportation have collaborated throughout the development process to ensure that the transportation needs envisioned by the local community are coordinated. The proposal is to widen SR 78 from SR 21 to 0.3 miles north of SR 21 from a two-lane section to 3@12’ lanes with 4’ shoulders and curb & gutter. From 0.3 miles north of SR 21 to 0.54 miles north of SR 21, SR 78 will be widened to 2@12’ lanes with 10’ shoulders with 250’ of right-of-way. At this point the road will continue to the northwest on new location for approximately 1.55 miles until intersecting SR 22 approximately 2 miles north of SR 21. From this point, the same cross section continues north to Cates Landing Road. Total project length is 4.65 miles.
